For instance, when I am stressed I want to overeat. I was stressed at lunch and on my lunch break, I wanted to go to the donut shop and get a donut or two. As I thought about doing that, I became really aware that I already used my free money to pay on debt. If I drove to the donut shop, I’d not only blow that money, but also need more gas money. Overeating would blow my budget out. I pulled out the lunch I’d packed from home and ate it.
Our habits drive how we actually live out our budgets. Doing a budget is great, but it is how we live it out that matters.
